Ruban Sanmuganathan

Chartered Financial Adviser

Ruban started his career as an independent financial adviser at American Express in 2003 where he gained in-depth experience of managing the complex financial affairs of UK and international clients. He then took up senior roles at a handful of wealth management firms before joining Plutus in 2016 where he provides full financial planning advice to clients – some of whom have been with him for over 15 years.

Specialising in pensions, he also works on investments and equity release mortgages as well as insurance and tax planning on behalf of his clients. He was one of the first to achieve the gold-standard status of Chartered Financial Planner and has also studied behavioural finance, a skill he uses when building financial strategies for his clients. He is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and also holds a Certificate in Equity Release.

Ruban takes a holistic approach to his clients’ needs, working with other professionals such as accountants and lawyers to deliver comprehensive strategies for them. He has written articles for the Telegraph and Money Marketing, as well as appeared on BBC Radio.

In his spare time, Ruban is an avid traveller who loves exploring the less-trodden parts of the world. An ardent Formula 1 fan, his retirement dream is to travel the world following the races.
